THE top teams in the Essendon District Football League division 1 flexed their muscles, recording major wins in round 10 on Saturday.
Heading towards round 13 and the splitting of the division into two grades, the top five sides had convincing wins, including two games with 200 points-plus margins.
The results all but mean Hillside, East Keilor, Roxburgh Park, Moonee Valley, Keilor Park and Jacana will make up the newly formed division 2 for the rest of this season and next year.
Top of the table Airport West recorded the biggest win for the round, keeping bottom side Jacana goalless and winning 44.39 (303) to 0.1 (1).
Marcus Kenny kicked an amazing 20 goals in a best-on-field performance as 11 players got onto the scoreboard for the Eagles.
Tullamarine also had their kicking boots on, as they defeated second-last Keilor Park, 35.20 (230) to 2.1 (13).
Steven Vernon kicked seven goals for Tullamarine, while seven others scored multiple goals.
West Coburg narrowly missed joining Tullamarine and Airport West as 100-point-plus winners, defeating Roxburgh Park by 99 points, 22.21 (153) to 8.6 (54).
In the closest match of the round, Taylors Lakes kicked seven goals in the final term to keep its finals hopes alive. Leading by 10 points at three-quarter-time against Glenroy, the Lions ran out 26-point winners, 12.10 (82) to 8.8 (56).
After struggling early in their first season back in division 1, the Lions sit only percentage outside the top four and look ready to assert their authority in the second half of the season.
