Guccione suffers a double blow

30 Jun, 2009 04:00 AM
GREENVALE product Chris Guccione failed to make the main draw at the Wimbledon championships in London last week.

The six-year professional was bundled out in the first round of qualifying for the men's singles.

The 23-year-old started confidently before losing to Israel's Harel Levy 5-7 7-6 (7-0) 6-3.

To compound his woes, Guccione teamed up with German Frank Moser in the men's doubles to be bundled out in the first round of qualifying in three sets to Prakash Amritraj (India) and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi (Pakistan).

The scoreline was 7-5 5-7 6-1.
