TULLAMARINE'S strong form approaching finals has coach Ash Manning filled with confidence ahead of this weekend's Essendon District Football League B-grade final at Glenroy.
The Demons sealed fourth spot and an elimination final against Hadfield after dismissing Moonee Valley by 86 points at the weekend, 16.20 (116) to 4.6(30).
A tough first half and 10-point half-time lead got easier for Tullamarine as it peppered the goals kicking 8.9 to no Moonee Valley score in the third term. Chris Barton bagged three goals as the Demons' best, while Dylan Ramsay also kicked three majors.
Manning said his team had been tracking under the radar as a finals contender and was well-placed to avenge a 38-point loss in Tullamarine's only meeting with Hadfield on July 10.
The onball division promises to be a contrasting battle with Hadfield reliant on ruckman Tony Rosios and prolific ball-winner Bassman Abdulwahed.
With Dave Scott and a depth of onballers to rotate, Tullamarine could provide a contrast to the Hawks who left Rosios and Abdulwahed in the centre for the entire game against Westmeadows at the weekend.
"Bassman killed us the first time we played, we had a couple of guys in Damian Grainger and Cameron Hare who didn't play and have since come back into the team and got some game time under their belts."
Hadfield's forward pairing of Gohar Saad and Matt Patane can look forward to duels with strong-bodied opponents Drew Hynninen and David Brockway.
"Brockway's done a great job all year on the main centre half-forwards, we'll give him first crack at Gohar." Saturday's other B-grade final will be at Craigieburn's Highgate Reserve between Westmeadows and Pascoe Vale.
The Tigers' 34-point defeat to Hadfield in the last round of the home and away season came off the back of seven changes to the team that defeated Glenroy by a point the previous game.
