WEEKLY Sports journalist Teo Pellizzeri and TAC Cup reporter Jonathan Wilkinson mull over the prospects for the Calder Cannons ahead of Thursday's AFL national draft.
TP: There are some players who are considered certainties to be drafted. Is that a folly or reality?
JW: I've had the privilege of chatting to recruiters from different clubs and they were all unanimous in Brandon Ellis (West Coburg) as a certainty to be drafted. He's got leg speed and great disposal.
TP: Having a brother already in the system always helps, not that Michael Talia (Greenvale) needed the good performances of his older brother Daniel (Adelaide Crows) to help him get noticed.
JW: Dan Talia has worked a lot on his game. He has great run out of the back for a tall player. One of his standout things is he's vocal and a leader.
TP: You're a big fan of the returning over-age player Ozgur Uysal (Greenvale), the national draft might not be his best chance but he's a show for the rookie draft as well.
JW: My biggest positive about him is he can step up the tempo and really read the game well. He played for Coburg through the year and will definitely be VFL quality but whether he makes it into the AFL remains to be seen.
The AFL draft is this Thursday in Sydney.
