THE North West Wizards have broken new ground, winning the under-14 Commonwealth Bank state championships.
It is the first time a Wizards outfit of any age has gone all the way to win the state title and you will not find two happier people than coach Liam Castellas and captain Guy Walker.
The Wizards were set 163 for victory over the Southern Rangers and chased it down with five wickets in hand and 11 balls to spare on the back of brilliant batting by Justin Galeotti (47), Michael Collinson (34) and Walker (25).
The Pathway Awards night was held at the Incinerator Arts Complex with Wizards player of the series awards given to: Kiara Jones (U14 girls), Amelia Radford (U16 girls), Lizzie Howells (U18 girls), Guy Walker (U14 boys), James Ford (U16 boys) and Mitchell Streiff (U18 boys).
The immensely talented Streiff was selected in the All-Stars team to play the High Performance Academy on February 21 at Princes Park in Carlton.
