GREENVALE made a big jump away from relegation danger in Victorian Turf Cricket Association after a five-wicket first-innings victory against McKinnon in senior division at the weekend.
Victory has Greenvale sitting eighth in the 12-team league, more than 13 points above the two-team drop zone.
Further up the table, Greenvale (49.66 points) has closed the gap to fourth-placed Spotswood (58.24) to within nine points.
McKinnon had just 135 to defend from the previous weekend but did make inroads after Greenvale resumed at 0-16 in the chase.
A collapse of 3-4 reduced Greenvale from 0-61 to 3-65, including the departure of Tarek Moughanie (42).
But Jon Kent (27) and Glen Courts (42) took the score to 117, with Kent still at the wicket when the victory target was reached.
Greenvale declared at 7-190 before taking five wickets in the final 30 overs of the day, McKinnon finishing 5-106 at stumps.
In North division, Tullamarine rolled top team Keilor for just 98 to record a 123-run win.
Defending 221, Tullamarine's David Zahorodni (4-46), Shane Windridge (3-8) and Chris Kenny (2-10) combined to have Keilor all out for 9-98.
Sending the ladder leaders to follow on would not yield the same success however, with Keilor reaching 2-97 off 23 overs at stumps.
Westmeadows (186) fell short of Sunshine Druids' 225.
In North A1, Jacana revived its finals hopes with a 215 to 136 win against Aberfeldie.
