TWO wickets were enough to start the rot for Broadmeadows as the Falcons lost to Plenty Valley by 71 runs in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association at the weekend.
The defeat leaves the Falcons ninth on the 14-team ladder with 24 points.
Broadmeadows restricted Plenty Valley to 219 the previous week and made a promising start to the chase at JP Fawkner Reserve in spite of losing opener Tony Ura for 22 with the score 1-38.
Assad Vala (35) and Ben Rose (24) guided the score to 1-78 before Vala's departure sparked a collapse of 7-46.
Tim Branagan (23) batted with the tail as wickets fell consistently.
Branagan's own run-out at 9-148 bought a swift end to the innings.
Broadmeadows heads to Balwyn Park to take on fifth-placed Balwyn in the first day of a two-dayer starting this weekend.
