PLAYING Melton in any form of cricket is difficult in Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association but Twenty20 in particular as Broadmeadows felt the full force of the Lions on Saturday.
Having posted 3-120 batting first at JP Fawkner Reserve, the Falcons were mowed down by eight wickets and with 17 balls to spare.
Broadmeadows had wickets in hand but couldn't lift the scoring rate higher than a run a ball after winning the toss and batting.
An uncharacteristically generous Melton donated 29 sundries to the Falcons' cause, with Tim Branagan (30 not out) and Mitchell Streiff (32) top scorers with the bat.
Melton's captain Michael Allen led the charge in reply, hitting 56 not out at the top of the order with support from Michael Alexander (21) and Adam Johnstone (35) to reach 2-121 off the first ball of the 18th over.
Broadmeadows' season continues at JP Fawkner Reserve this weekend against Williamstown.
