JACANA president Khan Sayers is hoping his side can carry its recent form into the finals of the Victorian Turf Cricket Association's North B1.
Having lost one match for the season, the side has only just started to hit its straps, according to Sayers.
"We have been bowling consistent all year, but our batting wasn't up to scratch in the first half of the season," he said.
"We have finally got our batting right which has seen our game improve."
Leading the improvement and the charge with the bat is captain-coach Janaka Siriwardana who hit 190 not out in the last match.
"Janaka has been really good this year hitting nearly 600 runs for the season and averages over 50 this season," Sayers said.
"He has been bowling well too."
While Siriwardana has been the star this season, it is Jacana's evenness that has it second on the ladder.
"We have three players in the top 10 of both the batting and the bowling, so everyone is playing their role," Sayers said.
"The additions of Adrian McDonald, Amila Gunawardene and Telge Peiris have certainly helped with that this season."
While hoping that his star batsmen continue to make runs, Sayers is looking for a team effort.
"If everyone can do their job it will make it easier ... but our middle order batsmen will be the key, including Siriwardana.
"If the opening batsmen set us up with a good platform, we believe the bowlers are good enough to do the job."
