THE all-too-familiar Broadmeadows batting collapse reared its head again in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association south-west group on Saturday.
The Falcons were skittled for a lacklustre 108 in 42.4 overs, with Papua New Guinea import Vani Vagi Morea the only real resistance with 31.
Talented all-rounder Mitchell Streiff (17) and middle-order man Andrew Bonaguro (21) showed promise, but the Falcons never got out of first gear.
The visiting Elsternwick finished the day on 4-91 and within touching distance of victory.
■ In the Victorian Turf Cricket Association, the Westmeadows Warriors appear to have taken the upper hand on day one of their north division clash with the Keilor Park Devils.
The Warriors were set 225 for victory after William Kosteas (4-67) and Michael Cunneen (3-38) delivered some nice bowling spells.
