IT was history in the making as Broadmeadows celebrated an impressive win over Yarraville in the first round of the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association's inaugural Twenty20 competition at Sewell Reserve last Tuesday night.
Chasing 3-142, the Falcons brought up victory in the 15th over after rattling up 2-145.
The stars were Reyce Toll with 57 not out and Michael Young with 57.
"We did it pretty easily. We were on track for 200," club president Ben Wood said.
Playing in West Group, Broady's next game in the three-round competition is against Williamstown at Point Gellibrand Oval on Tuesday, November 24.
In the VSDCA's south-west group, Broadmeadows was forced to lick its wounds after going down to Malvern - 174 to 6-242 - at the Malvern City Oval on Saturday.
The visitors blew it on the first day after collapsing from 1-75.
Emerging all-rounder Ben Rose bagged 2-27 from 16 overs.
No. 3 batsman Keegan Stanley chipped in with 2-18 late in the day. The Falcons host Moorabbin in a two-dayer at Sewell Reserve over the next two Saturdays.
In exciting news, Broadmeadows Cricket Club product Rory Collins is celebrating after scoring 94 for Dandenong against Northcote at Shepley Oval on Saturday in the Premier Cricket competition.
Batting at No. 8, the wicketkeeper added a club record 216 for the eighth wicket with all-rounder Brent Fairbanks, who made 127 at No. 9.
In the North West Cricket Association's George Luscombe Shield, Roxburgh Park spent a hot day in the field as Sydenham-Hillside hit up 8-322 at Lakeside Drive Reserve on Saturday.
