Students' hotline to China

31 Aug, 2010 01:00 AM
HUME Senior Secondary College students on Friday had a 'live chat' with 20 Victorian students attending a Connections classroom exhibition at the World Expo in Shanghai, China.

Nineteen of the college's year9 students, along with state Education Minister Bronwyn Pike, visited the Hume Global Learning Centre's 'ideas lab' in Broadmeadows to connect with the students in Shanghai via video link.

Ms Pike said Connections 2010 combined the key elements of a modern Victorian classroom.

"The video link gave the students at the Hume college a chance to speak to the students in Shanghai and learn more about what they're doing there.

"The students working at the ideas lab used interactive white boards, mini-computers and touch screen computers."

Ms Pike said the students in Shanghai had been provided with equipment to record and document their trip.
