Spicing up solidarity

02 Mar, 2010 04:00 AM
SHOPPERS were treated to lessons on cooking with Indian spices last Wednesday as Gladstone Park shopping centre showed its support for Vindaloo Against Violence.

Chef Peter Green put on a cooking demonstration in support of Vindaloo Against Violence, a project started by Flemington's Mia Northrop to spread a message of goodwill to the Indian community. The campaign comes after a number of violent attacks on Indians in Melbourne.

Using spices from Sahara Spice, Mr Green showed shoppers how to make aromatic curries and stews. Centre promotions officer Karen Fogarty said the event encouraged shoppers to embrace the Indian culture and cuisine.
