Shopping centres cast a net

RETAILERS are banking on the internet to gain a wider appeal for Hume's oldest shopping precincts.

Hume Council has engaged design company eLocal to develop websites for Barry Road, Tullamarine, Westmeadows Village and Dallas shopping centres.

The director of Whiting's Bakery in Westmeadows, Terry Whiting, said he was improving his website to help develop his seven-month-old business.

"Everyone is really positive about it, it will be a great asset once we're all on board.

"It will make more people aware of what we've got here, make us more visible to those who use the web and give us a bigger share of the market.

"People don't have to shop at the bigger shopping centres to get what they want, these niche shopping strips have a lot to offer."

The websites are:

www.tul lamarineshopping.com.au

www.wes tmeadowsvillage.com.au

www.dall asshoppingcentre.com.au
