AN employment service provider that has survived the federal funding cutbacks is now looking at expanding its services to Sunbury.
Adult Multicultural Education Service (AMES) is one of the few in the Calder Employment Services area to receive Government funding last month. The area includes Broadmeadows, Coburg and Glenroy.
AMES employment general manager Troy Fryar said the group would expand its services to include Sunbury. "The programs we run will depend on the new and emerging communities in the area and their specific requirements and needs."
AMES runs services from Broadmeadows, Coburg and Glenroy and plans to open an office in Sunbury by July.
"I am pleased the Federal Government has acknowledged the group's skills in specialised employment services to those from a culturally and linguistically diverse background," Mr Fryar said.
Glenroy-based support agency Youth Projects also received funding. It will provide services to 690 jobseekers in Hume, Moonee Valley and Moreland.
Its chairwoman Melanie Raymond said the funding would help maintain staff to pick up the shortfall in services.
