POLICE have appealed for help as they investigate Wednesday's crash in Kalkallo that claimed the life of a 59-year-old woman.
Police believe the Wallan woman's car, a black Mazda 3 sedan, was stationary on the Hume Highway, near Donnybrook Road, because of roadworks when it was struck by a Kenworth prime mover about 4pm.
Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen the smash or the truck before the incident.
They have spoken to the 45-year-old truck driver and investigations are continuing.

■The body of a man was found alongside the Hume Highway in Craigieburn on Sunday morning.
The discovery was made by a passing truck driver on the northern side of the highway about 2kilometres south of Donnybrook about 8am.
A post-mortem is being done to establish the cause of the death.
■Police are investigating a stabbing at Craigieburn about 3.50 am on February 26. A man with multiple wounds walked into the Craigieburn police station following the stabbing.
Police believe the man, in his 20s, was stabbed after a possible road rage incident a short time earlier. They believe that after a traffic incident in Roxburgh Park the man was followed to Ravenswood Crescent. When he stopped at a roundabout he was confronted by a man from another vehicle who demanded his wallet. He was then stabbed.
The man
was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
