Fashion Forward was organised by Kangan Institute in Broadmeadows.
Students had to create and transform an outfit from recycled material using minimal energy and waste.
The winners received a bouquet of flowers and a $250 voucher to spend at the Broadmeadows shopping centre.
An exhibition of the top 20 designs as voted by Facebook fans will run at the centre until Sunday.
