Champs put out to grass with legends

09 Mar, 2010 09:40 AM
THREE champion racehorses will be settling in to retirement at Living Legends in Greenvale.

Sprinters Apache Cat and Takeover Target, both eight-time group1 winners, met their 10 new stablemates at the weekend, including Might and Power, Doriemus, Better Loosen Up, Brew, Rogan Josh and Silent Witness. Apache Cat retired last year after he fractured his leg during a race.

He came out of quarantine in January and has been at stables in Cranbourne. At the weekend, he made the permanent move to Living Legends, home to some of the country's top retired horses.

Takeover Target, who retired last year after a leg injury, was just visiting Living Legends at the weekend.

He has been resting at owner Joe Janiak's property in NSW and is midway through an Australia-wide tour.

He leaves soon on the second round of visits before arriving at Living Legends later this year.

Maldivian, Cox Plate winner in 2008, will also go to Living Legends after he recovers from stem cell treatment for a small tendon tear.
