HUME residents have been invited to enjoy the spirit of Harmony Day and join in the three events in the municipality.
Harmony Day on Sunday celebrates and promotes Australia's cultural diversity.
Hume mayor Cr Geoff Porter said the day was about community participation, inclusiveness, respect and a "sense of belonging".
"These three events across the city will celebrate our vibrant and diverse community and we're pleased to participate again in the Harmony Day initiative."
Tomorrow from 5-7pm, there will be indigenous dance and Mesopotamian group performances and children's activities at Coolaroo South Primary School, 52 Bushfield Crescent, Coolaroo.
On Friday, there will be Anatolian, Bhutanese, Assyrian/Chaldean folklore, Mesopotamian and Turkish song and dance performances from 10am-1pm at the Migrant Resource Centre North West, 60 Belfast Street, Broadmeadows. A student art project from North Melbourne Institute of Technology and Adult Migrant English Program will also be on display.
Residents can enjoy a picnic with live performances, henna body art, face painting and a sausage sizzle at the Homestead Community and Learning Centre, 30 Whiltshire Drive, Roxburgh Park, from 11am-2pm on Saturday. Residents are encouraged to bring food and non-alcoholic drinks.
