Greenvale teacher Carly McGan's moment of truth came when she lost her locks for the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave last week.
The St Carlo Borromeo Primary School teacher promised to shave her head if she raised $5000.
With the help of the school community, family and friends, she exceeded her goal and raised about $7000.
She kept her promise and said goodbye to her 50-centimetre long tresses at a special school assembly.
"I'm proud I made the decision to go through with it [the agency's fund-raiser for cancer victims] as it's obviously affected a lot of people," she said.
