Authority acts after death

30 Jun, 2009 05:00 AM
THE death of a Tullamarine factory worker in hospital has again put the spotlight on workplace safety.

The 60-year-old Delahey man was working at the Willow Ware plastics factory in Tullamarine on June 4 when his coat was caught in a lathe and he was dragged in.

WorkSafe is investigating the death.

He was the 14th Victorian to die in a mishap at work since January 1.

A WorkSafe business briefing will be held today at The Meadows, 80 Northcorp Boulevard, Broadmeadows, from 4pm.

It will focus on ensuring safety is maintained in tough times, dealing with workers' compensation claims and helping injured workers back to work.

Bookings are essential.
